Ward 7 of Portbury in Umzingwane is home to the PIPOGM company, which was a product of a group comprised of eight youths with support from Uluntu Community Foundation. The group was assisted with three projects, the pig, poultry and grinding mill projects. Uluntu offered financial and technical support to the youth for the project that they ended up registering their project as a business. However, like a wrecking ball, the covid pandemic partially destroyed the vision of the PIPOGM company. As covid restrictions set in, non-essential work was suspended, thinning the market for their pig and poultry extension. During the covid pandemic, the group had resorted to managing the projects at home instead. Now that the covid virus is in recession, the youth are in the process of regrouping and taking stock of their assets so that they can pick up where they left for the success of the project.
